Save on Tools isn't a Sin

Whether you like repairing or not, you probably will buy some tools at one point or another. Here are some ways to save money on tools that you can actually use today.

Like every other household item, you can really save lots of money by going to the yard sales, flea markets and from someone who's moving their home. Just talk to them whenever you see the opportunity.

As long as they feel solid in your hands when you pick them up, even salvaged merchandise can be a great fit. At the end, it's really just a piece of metal so construction is the most important.

Many people get great deals at household auctions because bidders are usually more interested in other types of goods like computers or artwork. Bring some cash and have some fun.

Even traditional stores will have great sales when they have unusually high inventory. Especially during the holidays, look for retailers to give an excuse for a sale to lure buyers like us.

Shopping channels on television are not a reliable place to shop. They often sell products that are substandard or overpriced. Electrical tools sold on these channels can be from gray market manufacturers.

Some subtle scratch and nicks can ruin electrical equipment and also be dangerous for the user. When you buy, make sure there's a good return policy.

Always be on the lookout for places that have great sales because when you need tools, you know where to check. Otherwise, you will be wasting much of your time when you need to buy.

When it comes to tools, look for solid construction from name brand manufacturers. Wrenches and hammers should have some weight to them. Don't buy used screwdrivers that are pitted or anyway damaged.

If you are going to buy used, make sure pliers and other wrenches are tight and well maintained. And remember, avoid tools that are rusted or corroded, as they will be unusable soon. - 31409
