Why Do We Love Collecting Toy Fire Trucks

By Michelle Rudge

For many of us, collecting toy fire trucks is one of those novelties that just never wore off. We never seem to get sick of holding these small pieces of history (and for some of us, a small piece of our childhood) and as we get older, our desire for the big toys is never surpasses our passion for the small ones!

Everyone is different though, and everyone has different motivations for collecting their toy fire trucks. Sentimental value plays a big part for some collectors who find comfort in being reminded of certain eras and events in their own history, while others get a thrill just from being the holder or keeper of something rare and valuable.

If take note of the homes that you go into, whether they be friends or family, rich or poor. Many will have a toy of some sort displayed somewhere for guests to see. Like on the mantle piece, in the display cabinet or even on a desk in the study. Why do we do that? Often it's a reminder of a time gone by, an era that we can look back on fondly. And toy fire trucks transport us so easily back to that time.

In our childhood, toy fire trucks were used for great rescues, daring adventures and acts of heroic deeds. We were only limited by our imagination, and these imaginations were strong and creative. Just seeing our toy fire truck collections can bring back those memories and remind us of the time when life was simple and we were bound only by the limits of our imagination.

There are different reasons that each collector will have for building a collection of toy fire trucks. There are, of course, those that collect for sentimental value. Spurred on by their passion for the quality and craftmanship shown with each piece they collect. And there are those that understand the potential financial gain when they find a piece that is of value, or could become more valuable with time. - 31409
