Zhu Zhu Hamsters Could Be The Best Selling Toy This Christmas

By Andrew King

Zhu Zhu pets could well be the hot selling toy in the run up to Christmas 2009 if current sales figures are anything to go by. The Zhu Zhu pets are a "family" of motorized hamsters (five in total) which use artificial intelligence to interact with their environment, children and one another.

Mr. Squiggles, Pipsqueak, Chunk, Num Nums and Patches are the five Zhu Zhu hamsters. They each have their own unique personalities and character traits. They have two modes of operation - "exploring" and "nurturing". All of the hmasters are available individually, with the exception of Patches who can only be obtained as an integral part of the "Hamster Starter Set".

The hamsters respond to petting and cuddling when in nurturing mode by making various noises. There are a total of forty different sounds used across all the hamsters and each one has their own individual sound.

When they are in exploring mode the hamsters like to run around - either inside their special "hamster habitats" or on any hard floor. The habitats can be disassembled and rearranged in a variety of different combinations. These include tracks, toys, tubes and even a little hamster car.

There are lot of different accessories for use with the hamsters. There's a hamster wheel and tunnel, hamster garage, hamster funhouse, surfboard, sleep dome, adventure ball. It's a long list of toys.

Children seem to love these little furballs. They are cute, they interact and the process of designing and building the hamster habitats in various different forms will stimulate their imagination and make sure that they don't become bored.

The marketing slogan for Zhu Zhu hamsters is "pets without the mess". That's a big bonus for many parents. There is no need to keep their water bowl topped up or to feed them - and you don't need to clean out their cage either. All that you need to do is change a couple of AAA batteries every now and again.

The Zhu Zhu pets are motorized and contain some small parts - so they are not ideal for very small children. The target age range is from four, up to ten, years old.

These toys are going to be huge this Christmas (in fact they already are huge right now). You would be well advised to get your order in well in advance if you want to give one of these guys as a present this year. - 31409
