Keeping It Safe With Airsoft Guns

By Anthony Carter

Many people, role playing in combat situations, are familiar with airsoft guns. Such guns permit you to pretend being in the military without the seriousness of real guns. Just the same, there are rules to prevent injury that must be followed. In addition, an airsoft gun owner must take extreme care with the fact of simply owning one.

As an airsoft gun owner you have the responsibility of disclosing its utility to all who know nothing about it. There is still much arguing going on regarding make-believe combat games and which guns to be used. This may be due to the fact of people not knowing what is like to hold a gun in one's hand or roleplay in a war game. Often, such people have the false notion that airsoft gun owners only want to threaten or disturb others.

If people know why you are interested in combat play and how this works, they will be more sympathetic to the cause. Therefore, it is very important that you inform people precisely what is involved in combat play. This means you have to put great emphasis on just how serious and regulated the game is, particularly stressing the fact that there is no body contact involved. Your enthusiasm will win them over. Soon, they too will be playing combat games.

Another important thing to point out is just how different an airsoft gun is when compared to a normal gun. Make-believe guns scare many people as these are believed to be dangerous. Surely, if not properly manipulated, these guns can cause harm but will never kill. In fact, airsoft guns can be compared to paintball guns or BB guns when properly manipulated.

A real gun and an airsoft gun differ in their ammunition. The velocity of the airsoft gun's ammunition (small pellets) at which it's discharged is less. In addition, protective gear is obligatory when participating in combat play. It is crucial that others are persuaded that your gun will be used for the sole purpose of playing or training in target shooting under appropriate conditions.

Being an airsoft gun owner, you also have the obligation of treating your gun with respect. This implies that you store your gun just like any other standard gun. Keep your gun off limits from small children. It may not kill but can seriously injure when not properly manipulated by a child. Don't forget to unload it when you store it.

Don't forget the fact that an airsoft gun's exterior aspect can be mistaken for a real gun. For this reason you should treat your gun as if it were a standard gun. Never go around showing off your gun in public. You may scare people and even be approached by the police.

Even though a real gun and an airsoft gun look very much alike, you can still differentiate the two just by taking a look at the tip of the respective guns. If there is an orange marker, then it is a simulation gun. The orange marker must be visible at all times. The United States law stipulates that this orange marker should not be removed or else you may be incriminated.

Hence, airsoft guns are for play only. Take care of your gun and respect others as it should be. - 31409
